1972 Gibson SG-250

The two-pickup variant of the SG-100, made in 1972 only, and replaced by the very similar SG III the following year, all of the aforementioned models taking the place of the entry-level Melody Maker family in Gibson’s catalog. This one is clean and all-original save for missing bridge cover, has a new Gibson gig bag, and plays very well and is in fine structural and electronic shape. So, a thicker SG with a poplar body in Cherry Sunburst, poplar neck, and rosewood fingerboard, and a curiously un-angled headstock. 24.75” scale length, 1 & 9/16”nut width, overall weight is a nice seven pounds. Three-on-a-side metal keystone-button tuners, and an adjustable bridge on a metal mounting plate with a curved rear with slots to retain the ball ends of the strings. Pickups are a pair of Melody Maker-style single coils mounted on oblong metal plates with the Gibson logo molded into the plastic covers (1972, remember?), and master volume and tone controls as well as on/off switches for each pickup placed on a metal control plate.
